My Sister is having a……

girlThat’s right!  Although the Chinese Calendar, Intelligender, and the heartbeat all pointed towards boy, the sonogram showed differently!  It is for sure a girl!  IMG00149-20091118-1511  Congrats Sis and Ricky!

Fact or Myth? Boy or Girl?

My sister is 11+ weeks pregnant and per her request I have some questions for my “Mommy” readers. You know you all love talking about your pregnancy and your child, so now is your chance! Please read the questions and leave a comment with your answers. C’mon….it will be fun! You don’t have to be a new mom to answer these questions. Even grandmas can participate!
1. What is the gender of your child? (or children)
2. If you took the intelligender test (and followed the “what not to do 48 hours before testing” directions:) was it correct?
3. What is your story with the fetal heartbeat? There are so many “myths” out there….140 (or is it 150?) and below means boy, above 140 means girl. However, it’s supposedly a fact that the heartbeat of all babies will slow down some as your pregnancy continues. Did yours start high and then get lower? Stay high? What’s your story….
4. Did you have morning sickness?
5. If you had morning sickness, did you take your prenatal vitamin several months before becoming pregnant or when you found out you were pregnant?
6. Go to www.babyman.net, click predictions, enter information, and since you already know the outcome, was it correct?
___________________________________
Here are my answers:
1. Boy and Boy
2. Jackson: Didn’t take the intelligender with;
Garrett: Correct!
3. I don’t remember exact numbers, however I do remember both boys started out in the “myth girl range.” It seems like it was only high the first time on the doppler, which the doppler doesn’t even detect a heart rate until around 12 weeks (give or take)….so probably sometime between 12-16 weeks it dropped. Garrett actually dropped really low, but still healthy and normal. Actually when he was born, I remember a nurse commenting that we may hear comments at a future dr. appointments about his heart rate being on the lower side, but still normal and not to be alarmed.
4. No actual morning sickness, although with Garrett there were times that I think I would have felt better if could have been sick.
5. With Jackson I took prenatal vitamins long before finding out I was pregnant and felt much better than I did with Garrett. With Garrett, I started taking prenatal vitamins when I found out I was pregnant. (Such a horrible Mommy I am!!! Remember, I still thought I could only get pregnant with help from medication. haha, little did we know!) My theory: I thought Garrett was a girl because I felt worse, but I think introducing the prenatal vitamins on top of the pregnancy hormones was the reason for me feeling worse.
6. Babyman.net - correct for Jackson and incorrect for Garrett.

Garrett Ryan Arrived

I felt my first contraction at 11:20 on Thursday afternoon. We left for the hospital at 1:30am Friday morning and had Garrett at 2:35PM on Friday afternoon. I don't know what people are talking about when they say the 2nd baby is quick...??? The only thing that was quick about the 2nd pregnancy was getting pregnant!
We are all doing well. Garrett is perfect and is a wonderful baby! Jackson is adjusting, but doing well. Here are some pictures and one video from the hospital. I don't have too many close ups of Garrett yet, but there will be lots more pictures to come this week!

Early Labor

Just wanted to let you all know that I am in early labor. My contractions are about 5 to 7 minutes apart, but are only lasting about 20 seconds. My dr. said to head to the hospital when they are 5 minutes apart and lasting 45 seconds. I think we still have a while, but something is going on! Maybe tonight or in the morning. Right now we are just hanging out at the house waiting....Hopefully Garrett is not playing games!

Baby Update

I went to the doctor today and I have made some more progress. (I didn't think I was being checked today, but I was!) I am now dilated to a 2 and I am 25% effaced. She also "stripped my membranes," which is a new term to me. Basically to my understanding, it separates the amniotic sac from the uterine wall. This is supposed to speed things up. She said sometimes it makes girls go into labor that night or in a few days and for some it doesn't change the speed of things at all. Just by feeling, she thinks he weighs about 7 and a half pounds right now. At this point, he will gain around a pound a week...so I am ready to get things going.

I was still "okay" with being pregnant. I know I will miss feeling his little kicks and hiccups inside my tummy. That is an amazing thing! I know this might be my last pregnancy, so I was still kind of enjoying it. Now, emotionally, I am done! I am ready for him to be here. I am ready to have my energy back. I am ready to be able to keep up with Jackson again and get up and down off the floor without a problem. So Garrett....Come on....I am ready whenever you are!!

Still Waiting...

I don't have any updates, but I thought I would write just to tell you that we are still waiting. Almost every night this past week, I have had cramps and thought "Okay, this is going to be the night"...but nothing. My doctor didn't check me at my last appointment, but said if I am still pregnant in 2 weeks she would check me then. I felt like saying if I am still pregnant in 2 weeks, you may need to check my head because I am going to be a little crazy! My next dr. appointment is this Wednesday. However, since I know she is not checking me, I expect it to be another boring appointment. The only new information I will know is how much more weight I have gained in a week. YEA! Fun stuff!

I had Jackson when I was 37 weeks pregnant, which is this week. Jackson was so much more active when I was pregnant with him. I think he was so crazy and that was what broke my water. I think Garrett could hang out in there forever. He is so calm. He sleeps when I sleep, moves after I eat, and just pretty much sleeps....I don't think he is in any hurry to come out. Garrett seems happy in his little womb. (even though Jackson was kicking and punching the whole time trying to come out!)

I am out of school this week for Spring Break! I told my students that I MAY be back after spring break, but I MAY NOT.
I have had this fear that my water would break while I was in the middle of teaching. I didn't want to deal with 4th grade students asking any questions. I have already had to dodge so many of their questions this year about being pregnant, I didn't want to have deal with that too. Well, Friday one of my students (who is VERY out spoken) said "Mrs. Jordan, if your water breaks at school, I will get the ice." I paused for a second while in deep thought. First of all how does he know about water breaking....second of all, what in the world is the ice for?!?! Finally, taking a big risk, I asked "What is the ice for?" I was worried about what his answer would be, but I had so many thoughts running through my head, I had to know. Luckily he simply replied, "Because once your water breaks you can only eat ice!" Wooohooo! I was so happy to hear his G-rated response. I guess he has been around someone in labor before.

On Friday, I got an e-mail from a 3rd grade teacher at our school. She said when she went to pick up her students in the morning, one of her students had his basketball in his shirt and was saying "Look! I'm Mrs. Jordan!, I'm Mrs. Jordan" Little toot!

Remember to wear green tomorrow! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We are making some progress...

I am making a little progress. Today at my dr. appointment, she checked I have dilated a centimeter. She also felt the top of his head, so he is still head down!! I am 35 and a half weeks, but Garrett is measuring 38 weeks. She did say that she would induce me on April 2nd if he wasn't here by then....but based on his size, he will probably be here before then. I personally think he will be here in about 2 weeks...but he is the boss, not me!

He turned!!!

Today at my check up, we had a sonogram scheduled to confirm that Garrett was still breech. I walked in and she asked me if I thought he had turned. I said "Nope, his head is still up here (by my ribs) and his butt in down." She felt my belly and said she thought it felt like his head was down. I said, "No, no...he has not moved!"

Then we had the sonogram and I was wrong!!!!! For once in my life, I liked the fact that I was wrong. I had his butt and head mixed up. Sometime within the past two weeks, what I thought was still a head, had changed to a butt and I wasn't aware of it. Little stinker! He finally found his exit! YEA!!!! I thought this was going to be my stubborn child, but maybe he will be okay after all.

So what does this mean? My April 3rd c-section is canceled!!!! I could not be more excited about that! I DID NOT want a c-section. He is also measuring 2 weeks early. He will be here in no time at all. Tonight I bought his little "going home from the hospital" outfit. We are getting ready!

Doctor Apt.

I went to the doctor today and the little turkey is still breech. I have a c-section scheduled for April 3rd at 10:30. If he decides to come before that, we will just have an emergency c-section. I am REALLY hoping he comes the Monday AFTER my Spring Break. If not, March is going to be an extremely long month.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Breech equals C-Section

Today I went to the doctor and had a lot of questions answered. Garrett is still breech. His head and feet are up and his bottom is down. He is measuring two weeks bigger than how many weeks pregnant I am, which as we already knew means that he is big.

Last month we talked about possibly trying to turn him, however, I am not a good candidate for this. My stomach is very tight (yes, I took this as a compliment) and there is not any extra room in the womb not to mention he is big. She said for my situation, there are too many risks involved with trying to turn him. So that option is out.

I asked if she felt he still might turn on his own....she answered in a very nice positive way...but what I heard was NO. She said he does still have time, but again because of his size and my tight tummy (sorry, this will probably be the last time in my life I can say that!) the odds of him turning are low, but he still could.

With all this being said - I will have a c-section unless Garrett decides to flip on his own. My doctor wants to schedule it for April 2nd or 3rd which would be 39 weeks of pregnancy. Since Jackson came at 37 weeks, the odds of me going into labor around 37 weeks is likely. If I do go into labor on my own, I would just have an emergency c-section.

Found One!

Yea! I finally found a changing pad cover online. Gosh, I didn't know that finding one in solid brown would be so hard. Thanks everyone who sent me links to ones they found. Here is a picture of the one I ordered...

I go to the doctor on Wednesday for my checkup. I am now going every two weeks. I am hoping we will have more answers for if they will try to turn him since he is still breech. Before we knew how big he was, she said we will make a decision at 34 weeks for if we could attempt to turn him. I am 30 weeks today. I am thinking since he is big we might can get a move on making that decision...but I am not a doctor! I know everyone says a c-section is great and it would give me 8 weeks off of work which may mean I wouldn't have to go back at the end of the school year, but I didn't think the other way was too bad either. With a c-section, I worry about how long it will before I will be able to pick Jackson up.

Our Weekend and a Few Random Pictures...

We spent our weekend cleaning out the closets in the office and in the nursery. It is amazing how much stuff you accumulate in just three and a half years of marriage and one child. We are getting organized and trying to get ready for the arrival of little Garrett Ryan. I guess being pregnant with Jackson taught me that the last month of pregnancy you are really helpless, so I am trying to get everything ready now while I still can.

Today, I moved all the clothes Jackson has grown out of from his closet to Garrett's closet. I did this while Jackson was awake because I did not think it would be a big deal...Jackson however, chased me down the hallway crying. I didn't know he had such an attachment to his clothes. Gosh, I felt awful. I felt like I was stealing from Jackson, but it was only CLOTHES! Needless to say, I am really glad we are not taking the crib away from Jackson too. Apparently, he is very protective of his things.

A few pictures to post...

Saturday we went to a birthday party. It was Jackson's first time in a bounce house. Here is a picture of Jackson and Aaron after going down the slide of the bounce house.

I painted these letters today to match the bedding in the nursery.

FYI...I am on the lookout for a chocolate brown changing table pad cover. If anyone sees one anywhere, will you please let me know!

Crib, Toddler Bed, Twin Bed??? What to do....

Since we found out I was pregnant, we have been debating over the bed situation. One crib or two cribs? We figured Jackson would be climbing out of his crib by this point which would give us an excuse to move him into a twin bed with rails. We have gone through so many ideas for what we could do. The problem is, Jackson loves his crib and has no problem being in it. Plus, Jackson's crib converts into a toddler bed.

Something about seeing the baby in the sonogram on Friday made me realize we need to get a move on things and make some decisions considering the baby will be here in about 2 months. I was thinking Jackson would be so much older when the baby arrives and moving him to another bed wouldn't be that hard...well he's not...he is still a baby himself and I don't see him being ready for that change anytime soon.

We have decided to keep Jackson in his crib and keep his room as is. When Jackson does start attempting to climb out of his bed, we will just convert his crib into a toddler bed and his room will still be the same.

For the baby's room, we have decided to buy a new crib that will also convert to a toddler bed for later on. Long story short....both baby boys will have their own cribs!

Doctor Apt...

I had a sonogram today at my doctor appointment. The doctor said they are 110% sure it is a boy! He looks great...everything is very healthy. He already has a head full of hair. He is still in the breech position. They called it "Frank Breech." His feet AND head are up top and his bottom is down. So, that explains all the pain I have felt in my ribs. At one point in the sonogram his feet were by his mouth. They said he does still have time to turn, but for some reason, I don't really feel like he will.
He is measuring big just like Jackson did...I don't know why Aaron and I make such big babies!? My original due date was April 9th....my 20 weeks sonogram showed April 5th, and then my 28 week sonogram (today) showed March 24th. My due date doesn't change since April 9th would be 40 weeks, but looks like he may be here a little early.
Everything is looking good! I can't believe how close we are getting.

Happy 50th Birthday Dad!!!

Greetings!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! My holiday break has been wonderful. Aaron has been on call and hasn't had to work at all, so the 3 of us have been enjoying time at home together.

Jackson loved all of his new toys from Christmas. He is getting better at opening gifts, but he was a little confused about what holiday we were celebrating. Every time we sang "Happy Birthday" to him he would have a huge smile like he does in the pictures I posted. He is starting to know that he is Mr. Funny Man!

We found out today that Aaron passed his irrigation test!! YEA!! We are relived. Our plan is for him to do that on the side.

Everything is going well with the baby. He is still breech and my ribs have been killing me. His little head is pushing against my ribs. My next sonogram is January 11th (my dad's 50th Birthday!) so I will let you all know how that goes. I keep thinking if I eat a lot of sugar he will get hyper and flip to the head down position, but I think the only result the sugar is giving me is extra pounds on the scale. :(

This whole "blog" thing is new to me, but I think it might be an easy way to post pictures and communicate with family and friends. Aaron said it is a bad idea because we are not myfoxdfw.com. and he doesn't think anyone would look at ours. haha. So please, next time you talk to him let him know how cool the blog is!
