First Ear Infection

No not Garrett....Jackson. We went TWENTY months without an ear infection.

He has had a fever and a snotty nose all week. I called the doctor and they said it will probably go away within 72 hours, but if it doesn't they would need to see him. Well, it didn't. He woke up from his nap today burning up. I called the doctor and they said to bring him in. A few hours and tears later, we found out it was an ear infection. He has such a bad cough and his little voice is raspy. This is his first time to really be sick.

He was sweet when we were walking around Walgreens waiting for his prescription to be ready. (Garrett was at home with Aaron) We walked down the baby aisle and every picture we saw of a baby, Jackson would say in his little snotty, raspy voice, "Bubba." As soon as we got home, he walked over to Garrett and gave him a kiss. He missed his little brother while he was at the doctor.

So.....what will we be doing next week? Taking care of Garrett, because you know he is going to be sick next. Hopefully not....

Garrett is doing well! He has been teasing us at night with his sleeping. Three nights in a row he woke up only ONE time. We thought we were making some progress, but now he is back to 1:30ish and 4:30ish.

Christy....Shut up! I know little Miss Corlee has been sleeping through the night for awhile now. I had bad thoughts about you a few nights ago when Garrett was wide awake from about 1:00 to 4:00. It was a very pleasant night! I should have called you. Your daughter may be sleeping through the night, but look what the UPS man brought us the other day for FIFTEEN DOLLARS!!!
That's a 3 month supply! And when it is gone....I will get a refill for $15 more dollars. How freaken awesome is that?! One can normally cost $25, but with Aaron's wonderful insurance, we get 12 cans for $15. I was so excited about this I built a little formula tower! :) (Don't worry Christy, you know me...they are now nicely stacked in our pantry)
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! We are packing my classroom this weekend. Fun stuff!! :)

Poor Garrett...

I just slowly sat down on the couch holding sleeping Garrett in my arms, making sure he did not wake up. We are on pins and needles tonight. Garrett had his 2 month shots today and he did not agree with them. He has been SCREAMING tonight. It is so hard when your child is crying out of pain and there is not anything you can do to help. I feel so bad for him. This is new to me, Jackson never had a problem with shots....however, Garrett did have to get FIVE shots today. That's A LOT on his skinny little legs. We are giving him Tylenol every 4 hours, so hopefully it will help. Poor guy! Needless to say, since I finally got him to fall asleep, Aaron said sit on the couch, don't lay him down, and don't move until we feed him before we go to bed and give him more Tylenol. Aaron said he was going to start a pot of coffee to prepare for the night. (He is kidding...I think)

On a positive note - Garrett's check up went great! He weighs 12.13oz (75 percentile) and is 24in. long (80 percentile). Everything is perfect and he is a healthy little guy!

Aaron was off of work today and got to stay home with Jackson while I took Garrett to the doctor. When Garrett and I got home, I showed Jackson Garrett's band-aids on his legs. Then, I asked Aaron where the baby Tylenol was at. (I know, I wasn't a very good second time mom....I FORGOT to give him Tylenol BEFORE the shots) Jackson went into the bathroom and walked out with the first aid kit. How does he know these things?! We never really even use the first aid kit (Sorry if you are the one who bought me that at a shower)

Garrett is 2 Months!

Happy Face!! :)
Sad Face... :( Check out that bottom lip.

Garrett is almost ready for his horse jumper! His head is still a little too wobbly, but he is almost ready!
Look at Jackson trying to show him how it all works. Jackson was saying "Yee-Haw! Yee-Haw!"
We are having a little trouble with sharing. Jackson thinks the bumbo is for him. When we put Garrett in the bumbo, Jackson says "beep beep, beep beep" and tries to push him. We are working on sharing!
Check out the one shoe. It was about to be bath time, but he decided he needed to wear this shoe he found. Just one...that's all he wanted. And yes...that is a Halloween pumpkin and a tea pitcher in our living room.

We stocked up on diapers tonight!!

You were right...I have my hands full!

Last night was our first night to try to make Garrett fall asleep on his own. I remember doing this for Jackson. The first night he cried for 30 minutes, next night about 15, and each night got better and better. I loved it once Jackson knew how to fall asleep on his own. We can just lay him down awake, and he knows how to fall asleep on his own. He didn't need to be rocked, or fall asleep with a bottle...he just went to sleep.

We started this last night with Garrett. The crying is the hardest thing to listen to. At first Garrett just laid in his crib for about 10 minutes...Aaron and I thought "WOW! He is going to be easy!" But then, he cried for 5 minutes, I went in patted his back, calmed him down, left the room....we did this pattern for about 30 minutes. Then he finally fell asleep on his own. It was great! But, Aaron was home to keep me company and keep me sane during the crying.

So....Naptime. Just me, Jackson, and Garrett. It is time for Garrett's nap and I can't rock him to sleep because that would go against everything we worked on the night before. I laid him down awake. Of course he cries and I do the whole cycle just like I did from the night before, however...during all of this Jackson decided he is going to cry too!!!!!!! He decided this would be a good time to throw a fit. As if hearing your infant cry isn't stressful and heartbreaking enough, there is Jackson crying just as much. This lasted about 30 minutes, but it seemed like forever. I wanted to cry and throw a fit with them. Would it be okay if I laid on the floor too and kicked my feet? Finally, Garrett fell asleep....Grumpy Jackson ate lunch....put Jackson down for his nap....shut his bedroom door.....AND THEN the garage door opens...Aaron walks in and the house is peaceful. Not a cry...just silence. Why couldn't he have walked in about 20 minutes ago to see what it is REALLY like to be a stay at home mom.

With having two boys 18 months apart, going to work would be so much easier....but I am so glad I get to be home with them. Even though it can be extremely stressful, it is all worth it! But, I do understand why that new study said that stay at home moms should make $117,000 a year....completely true!!...I need a raise! All of you were right...I have my hands full!...but I really would not want it any other way!

Tomorrow, the 4 of us are going to the zoo! We practiced our animal noises tonight. Jackson is pretty good at his monkey, lion, and tiger sounds! The lion and tiger sound kind of evil though!

Jackson said his first sentence tonight! Daddy Open. YEA!!!!

Time for bed!! (which means - wash bottles, put the towels in the dryer, pick the toys up off of the floor, give Garrett a bath, feed Garrett, swaddle Garrett, do the whole "teaching Garrett to go bed on his own," wash my face, brush my teeth, take the dog out, set the alarm, check on Jackson, and then get in bed....:) Night Night!!

Happy Mother's Day!

I normally only post things that I write, but I received this e-mail and thought it was perfect! It is all so true!

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom.

Rocking, Swinging, and Playing

I feel like I have not posted in a long time. Garrett is awake a lot more during the day, so things have been busy around here. I can't imagine if I was back at work. WOW, I would not get anything done at home. Everyone is doing well...just busy....and tired.

Jackson and Nana (Jackson's Great Grandma)...How cute are they?! All they need is a cup of coffee and they would be set!
Just a swingin'

Aaron and I had to run some errands today in Dallas, so we decided to stop at a park and let Jackson play while I fed Garrett. It was such a nice day! Jackson has NO fear! He started off in the toddler area, but once he saw the big kid stuff he wanted to be over there!
Since I was feeding Garrett I got to "people watch." Notice the balloons in the background? These stay at home moms (no, these girls were different than me) and feminine dads were having a birthday party for one of their kids at the park. I kept thinking they were going to tie the balloons onto something, but no! One of the dads got stuck carrying them around the whole time. Could you picture if I had Aaron carrying around that many balloons?! This dad looked happy to be carrying around balloons......like I said, feminine dads! Maybe he was supposed to be a clown and I just didn't pick up on it??

Passed out!!
