Jackson’s Song about “Baby Girl.”

Before we knew if my sister and Ricky were having a boy or a girl, we would ask Jackson and Garrett, “Is Aunt M having a baby girl or a baby boy?”  Once we found out they were having a girl and her name was going to be Savannah, Jackson wasn’t happy.  #1:  He wanted it to be a baby boy.  #2:  He thought her name should Baby Girl and not Savannah
Jackson is learning to like the name Savannah (which he pronounces as “Sa-ban-na”).  This weekend I heard him singing a song about “Sa-ban-na” while he was playing.  He completely made this song up, as you will be able to hear.  :)  The words are not always the same and it is kind of hard to understand what he is saying since he makes up the words as he goes, but main line is “If baby girl is not Savannah, the baby girl will just be baby girl.”
I also like the part where I ask him to sing it again for us and he responds with “Who are y’all?” since he was really only singing it for me.

The Missing….

Before becoming a mom I really didn’t care what our house looked like. I cared about my classroom and everything had a spot, but when I got home from work I was done. I was done because home was basically a place to relax.

Now, three years later, my views have changed. Our house is far from a place where we just relax. We have 2 young, active boys. There are certain things that have a particular spot and they need to be in that particular spot in order to make it through our day and be able to function at our house. The adults in the house must be on top of things, because if it were up to our kids…..073 many things would be misplaced.

Yes, I tend to drive my husband nuts with my organization obsession.

This brings me to this morning. I had plans to meet my friend Kristin at Super Target. We wanted to go a little earlier in the morning so that the kids would be easier to shop with, so I told Kristin I just had to get myself dressed and the boys and we would be out the door.

I get ready really fast, straighten up the house incase it is shown while I am gone (yeah, right!), pack a little bag for the boys, throw Jackson his clothes to put on, tell Jackson 952 times to try to go potty before we leave, chase Garrett, get Garrett dressed, take Rigley out, put Rigley in his cage, assist Jackson in getting dressed and inform him like I do daily that even though he may think his underwear are on correctly, they are on backwards and he needs to turn them around, battle with Garrett to get his shoes and socks on, realized by the smell of Garrett, he needed his diaper changed again, brushed their teeth, go in Jackson’s room to grab his shoes and socks…………………………………………….no shoes.

Me: "JACKSON!!! WHERE ARE YOUR SHOES????”

Jackson: At the top of my closet Mommy!” (Yes, Jackson knows that’s where they go, however I don’t think every member of the household has caught on to that….)

Me: “No they’re not. Did Daddy put your shoes on you yesterday?”

Jackson: “Ummmmmmm…….”

Me: “Do you know where Daddy likes to put your shoes?”

Jackson: “He puts his shoes in his closet and his dirty shoes in the garage. Daddy needs to clean his dirty shoes”

Me: “No Jackson, do you know where YOUR shoes are?”

Jackson: “Ummmmm…..maybe they just blew away!!!”

……….And I realized that conversation was not going anywhere.

  • Call my husband, right? Would be easy IF he was allowed to talk on the phone while driving a train. Not that that stopped me from calling him 1,000 times in hopes of him answering. Although I debated it, I didn’t think calling the Union Pacific family emergency 1-800 number that could get a hold of Aaron would be appropriate. “Your wife has a missing shoe emergency.”
  • Put on a different pair of shoes. Let’s face it….he’s a boy…..there are not 100 cute pairs of shoes I see that he must have. It is one per season!!

I called Kristin and said I was going to take longer than I thought……..I have looked in every spot of our house and cannot find his shoes ANYWHERE…..I am sweating……..I am mad at Aaron right now (It’s always easier to blame your husband than to blame you kids or yourself)……..and I can’t let Jackson wear his Crocs in November!

After she informed me that the weather was actually warm today, I settled down some and put Jackson in his Crocs. However, wearing Crocs with jeans would be a fashion no-no, so I had to change his whole outfit. Then once Garrett saw that Jackson was wearing his Crocs, Garrett threw a huge fit because he wanted to wear his Crocs too. “Shooooooooz, Shoooooooz!!”

So…..I changed Garrett’s whole outfit, picked back up the mess that I created while trying to find the shoes, made Jackson go potty again, and finally left……..a really really long time after planned.

As of tonight, Aaron is still at work and the shoes are still missing. I have talked to Aaron but he doesn’t remember putting them anywhere……We will spend Wednesday searching for shoes!

I will probably regret typing this blog, because the shoes will probably end up being in a spot that I am overlooking and Aaron will laugh and say “Ohhhhhh……but you ALWAYS put his shoes on his closet shelf, huh?!” But for now, the mystery of the missing shoes continues and this is why everything must have a spot at our house in order to function properly. :) I do find it odd that both shoes are missing. If I could only find one shoe, I would blame one of the kids. But, both???

Notes:

**I know for a fact the shoes are at our house. I remember seeing them in the bathroom Sunday night after his bath and we didn’t leave the house on Monday.

**Mom, yes I know I am the world’s worst about leaving my own shoes in random places around the house. I can do this with my own shoes since I have many other pairs! So….don’t even start with the “Like Mother, Like Son” or would you say “Like Wife, Like Husband” in this situation? haha!! :)

**If you read this whole blog about missing shoes, THANKS! It was long and all about shoes….

Ohhhhh Cowboys….

075

Game is on…..2nd quarter…..Lunch is ready……Everyone walks into the kitchen…..

Kelli:  “Aaron, if you want to eat in the living room and watch the game, I will sit at the table with the boys.”

Aaron:  “I turned the game off.”

Kelli:  “Oh, is it half time?”

Aaron:  “No, I am done.  I turned it off”

Kelli:  “No really, I don’t mind.  Eat in there.  Why would you turn it off?”

Aaron:  “Because the Cowboys are {really wanted to say something bad here, but I gave him “the kids are awake look”} breaking my heart!”

Jackson:  “Why are the Cowboys breaking your heart, Daddy?  Do you need to go to the hospital?”

I love that kid…

My Son Thinks I'm Asian.

The boys have these little wood people that came with their train set.
There are firefighters, police officers,
construction workers...

mail carriers....
and so on....

Garrett came to me today holding one of these wooden people saying "Mommy! Mommy!" I assumed he was just excited about something. Maybe he stole it from Jackson, or maybe he was just acting excited because he found a "gift" for me.
Me: "What did you find? Is it a fireman or mailman?"
Garrett: "Mommy! Mommy!"
Me: (sit Garrett in my lap thinking he wants Mommy) "What is it baby?"
Garrett: "Mommy! Mommy!"
Me: Confused, but take a closer look at the wood person....

Yep, my son thinks I'm Asian.
As soon as I said "Is that Mommy?" he smiled, got up, and walked away doing his happy walk.

Two blogs in one day....I should get some kind of award for this!!

Aaron, the boys, and I had dinner with my dad tonight. We just went to the local italian restaurant, so it is pretty small......and quiet. After we ate, my dad said something like "I better go potty before I drive home" and gets up to go to the restroom. When he comes out of the restroom (on the other side of the restaurant), Jackson stands up in the booth, claps his hands, and says"YEA PAW PAW, PEE PEE! YEA PAW PAW, PEE PEE!" It was so funny!! I think MY dad was actually a little embarrassed. Shocking huh!?

Here are some cute pictures I got tonight while the boys were taking a bath -

Now these videos were my main motivation for posting 2 blogs in one day. I had to post these TONIGHT. They crack Aaron and I up! Every night our bedtime routine consist of giving the boys a bath, getting them into their pajamas, feeding Garrett a bottle on the couch while Jackson sits next to me and kind of settles down before bed, reading to the both of them, and putting them in bed. A few weeks ago Aaron was working so only I witnessed this. The Tour of Gymnastics came on TV that night while I was feeding Garrett. Jackson got off of the couch and thought he would try to do what they were doing on TV. This is supposed to be his "calming down" part of the night, but it was so funny I let it slide. I recorded the tour that came on TV in hopes of getting Jackson to "perform" again for Aaron to see.
Tonight while I was feeding Garrett, we played it and this was the results..... (see the two videos below, turn up your volume and listen for him singing in the 2nd video)

Nastia Liukin is carrying a sheet thing at the beginning, so that is why Jackson is using his blanket in the next video. In one part, the audience starts clapping, and Jackson figures they are clapping for him. He says "Yea That-Thin."

Brides! (plural)

Today, we went shopping for my sister's wedding. We started by watching her try on a bunch of dresses. Every dress looked great on her. We kept saying, "That's the one!!" but then she would put on another one and we would say "Oh, no that's the one!" Finally she found "the one!" It is perfect!
After lunch we did more wedding shopping and even stopped by Sprinkles to get cupcakes. Those are the best!! I had red velvet. Yummy!!
Mom, we will have to remember to bring a plastic fork for you next time.
Our wedding shopping trip was a success and lots and lots of fun!!! (except for your dog Sis....you need to do something with her - SCARY!)

While out wedding shopping with my sister, Aaron called me to tell me his sister Shelly just got engaged! So, now there are going to be TWO weddings! Both of our sisters are getting married!! CONGRATS SHELLY AND JUSTIN!!

Aaron had the boys today. This morning my mom came to pick me up and we left out the front door. Well, later that afternoon Aaron called me cracking up. He said Jackson went up to the front door (from the inside), knocked on the door, ran over to Aaron, and said "Mom!" I guess he was trying to trick Aaron into thinking I was home or just hoping that would make me really come to the door. Then Jackson decided he would just lay on the entry way floor and try to look underneath the door for me. I think he thought he would be able to see my feet when I walked up.

Road Rage

Why is it that Aaron can say every bad word ever created while driving and Jackson will never repeat them (Aaron is working on this....) but yesterday while driving through down town I made the sound "uggggggggggggghhhhhh" at a mean man that wouldn't let me over and now Jackson thinks it is so funny to do that. Aaron thinks it is the funniest thing ever as well. He says "What does Mommy do while she is driving?" and Jackson makes a fist and goes "uggggghhh."

P.S. Garrett had a much better night last night. Slept from 8:30 to 4:30 (8 hours) I fed him only 4 oz. and he slept from about 4:45 to 8:00 (3 hours, 15 minutes). This is much better than the 2 previous nights...

Jackson's baby...

When I was pregnant with Garrett, my sister in law Carissa, bought Jackson a baby doll to help prepare him for the arrival of Garrett. Aaron, like all men,had very unpleasant things to say about the baby doll and never liked the idea, but I thought it was sweet. Jackson showed some interest in the baby doll back then, but nothing much...it ended up with the rest of the toys in the toy box. Well, the other day, he discovered the baby doll. For the past few days he has really been taking care of his baby. He will get one of Garrett's diapers out of the drawer (I think it is funny that he knows to get Garrett's and not his own) and try to put a diaper on the baby, feed the baby a bottle, put the baby in the swing, burp the baby WITH a burp cloth on his shoulder, etc. It is very sweet! [minus the occasional "throw the baby across the room"] But as if our nightly bed time routine is not long enough with both boys...we now have another little baby we have to read to and put to bed. Tonight while we were cleaning up (see another story about this below) he took his baby into his room, got a book, and sat in the chair and "read" to his baby. How sweet is that!?!?!?! So I played along and Jackson and I put the baby to bed on a blanket in Jackson's room. I was not about the put the baby to bed in Jackson's bed.....I am okay with Jackson taking care of the baby, but I would not be okay if Jackson slept with a baby doll. That's too far...and my husband would totally lose it then. He is such a sweetheart. He is going to be a good Daddy one day.

Occasionally while we are cleaning up we will sing "Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody, Everywhere...Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody do their share!" I never really thought Jackson paid much attention to me. But tonight as we were cleaning up he started singing "Bean Up, Bean Up, Bean Up....." all on his own!! See...someone does enjoy my singing!!!

We Painted the Nursery!

We finished painting the nursery!!...(well, we have some fun touch ups left to do) Jackson is very excited! He thinks he got a new, empty room to dance around in and spin in big circles.

Also, tonight we really worked on calling my belly "BABY." He was doing good saying "BAAAY-EEEEE," but then he just gave up and started calling it "DOGGIE." Jackson and our real doggie don't know what they are in for, but then again...either do we! :)
